Submarine rock samples recovered during GB21-1 cruise in the southern Tokara Islands area

トカラ列島南部海域において，海域地質図作成に資する目的で，ドレッジによる海底岩石の採取を行った．火山体と考えられる海山及び海丘についてその噴出物を採取してその火山活動を理解することと，音波探査で認識された堆積物層の年代決定を主な目的として実施した．その結果，琉球弧火山フロント近傍及び沖縄トラフ内の2つの火山体で主に流紋岩及び玄武岩からなる噴出物が採取された．また断層崖と考えられる2地点で,露頭を構成する泥岩を採取した．火山岩類の全岩主成分分析を実施した結果，琉球弧の火山フロントに近い火山体で採取した玄武岩は，琉球弧火山フロントと同レベルかつ沖縄トラフ内の玄武岩よりやや少ないアルカリ金属元素濃度を示す一方，沖縄トラフ内の流紋岩溶岩は，火山フロント近傍の流紋岩類に比べてアルカリ金属元素濃度が高い特徴を持つことが明らかになった．
